March 30, 2016:
There are now only 2 days before we leave for Uganda and I’m so happy to introduce two of the students who will be traveling to me for the upcoming Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience to study Global Health in Uganda and to help mentor and train Ugandan Pharmacy Students, Interns, and Pharmacists. So without delay, here are their introductions in their own words.
Lauren:

Hi everyone! My name is Lauren, and I am in my last year of pharmacy school (P4 Year). I live in Pittston, Pennsylvania, and I have worked as an intern at Rite Aid Pharmacy. I am currently pursuing a pharmacy residency, and my main interests are infectious disease and internal medicine. Throughout school, I was involved with various organizations such as the American Pharmacists Association, Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society, and the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation. I was a Wilkes cheerleader for four years, and my other hobbies include dancing, kayaking, and traveling. I traveled to Serbia for a pharmacy student exchange program and to Poland to teach English to Polish elementary students. I also visited France, Spain, and islands in the Caribbean. I am so excited to be going to Uganda, and I am looking forward to meeting new people there. I love to experience different cultures, and I love when I have the opportunity to combine my two greatest passions: pharmacy and travel.
Makenzie:
Hello all! My name is Makenzie and I am also a P4 student at Wilkes University. I have completed the last six years at Wilkes and am so excited that this trip is way I get to finish my time with the school! I have spent my whole life in northeast PA and cannot wait to visit somewhere that is completely different. I have traveled to Mexico with an exchange program in 5th grade, and also visited Nicaragua with my boyfriend and his family a few years ago. I currently work for Rite Aid/Walgreens (whichever it is when this is read) and plan to continue to work for the company after graduation. My boyfriend, Victor, recently left for the Navy and as of right now we do not know where he will be stationed once he has completed all his training, but hopefully his career allows both of us more travel and adventure. I am very close to my family I have a younger sister, Madison, who also goes to Wilkes and a younger brother, Payton, who will be going to King’s College next year. We also have a black lab, Brew, and two cats, Barley and Fer, who are just as much a part of the family. If I left anything out don’t hesitate to ask!
